In the Human Library, the books are people who share their unique story about an aspect o their lives which is often stigmatised or misunderstood.
Readers can choose from a wide range of book titles available on the day. These might include for example 'Homeless', 'Autistic', 'Transgender', 'Police Officer' etc.
Books are borrowed for 20-minutes for a respectful 1-2-1 conversation where Readers listen to their personal story and are encouraged to ask questions.
Designed to build a positive framework for conversations that can challenge stereotypes and prejudices through dialogue, the Human Library provdes an opportunity to talk with somebody you may not normally meet in an environment where difficult questions are expected and appreciated!
