The Human Library

Saturday 14 September - Stratford Play House

Time: 2:30pm to 4:30pm
Ticket Price: FREE - there is no need to reserve your ticket in advance for this event. Simply turn up and enjoy!

In the Human Library, the books are people who share their unique story about an aspect of their lives which is often stigmatised or misunderstood.

Readers can choose from a wide range of book titles available on the day.  These might include for example 'Homeless', 'Autistic', 'Transgender', 'Police Officer' etc.

Books are borrowed for 20-minutes for a respectful 1-2-1 conversation where Readers listen to their personal story and are encouraged to ask questions.

Designed to build a positive framework for conversations that can challenge stereotypes and prejudices through dialogue, the Human Library provides an opportunity to talk with somebody you may not normally meet in an environment where difficult questions are expected and appreciated!

Human Library is a not for profit initiative operating in 70 countries.  If you or anyone you know is interested in becoming a Human Book for this or other events, please contact sally Sheen.

Readers can choose from a wide range of book titles which will be displayed on the day.  Human books can be borrowed one at a time, for 20 minutes.  Ticket holders are welcome to drop in and out during the 2 hour session.
